Twenty Twenty Two
We made the decision to put the beta testing on pause just before Christmas. The period between Christmas and New Years is generally quiet and we wanted to use this opportunity to put our heads down and get some serious development done. It’s also a good time of year to start planning for the next year and to think about where we personally want to go.
We haven’t required the team to work over this period — it’s typical for Australians to have a couple of weeks off around Christmas and New Years. Despite this, most of our team has been available and hard at work behind the scenes. This shows how dedicated and enthusiastic our team is to work on this game!
Airdrop for beta participants
We wanted to say TANKS to everyone who has participated in beta testing or has provided feedback via our Google Form. Over the next few days we will be airdropping 10,000 TANKS tokens and 10 MATIC to these lucky participants.
We have been busy working on the next build of Tanks! For Playing, which will contain many new improvements and changes. When this build is ready we will recommence beta testing by launching a new Beta Tournament that will continue until we are ready with full release.
We will be removing the requirement to play using a Beta Battle Pass. Having said that — keep hold of your Battle Pass…it might come in handy in the future. Hint hint…
Participants can earn BETA POINTS tokens (ERC-20 on Polygon) just by playing, destroying other tanks, or by winning the game. At the end of the tournament, BETA POINTS tokens can be redeemed for real TANKS tokens or burnt for special NFTs. More details to follow in the new year — stay tuned!
Full Launch Delay For A Better Full Launch
While the developers have been working hard behind the scenes and we are notionally on track to launching the game in January, we’ve considered the feedback from the community and understand that launching the game in the manner we had originally envisioned will not be adequate.
We’ve identified 21 major features which still require development, of which 17 of these are new items which were either not part of our short term roadmap or we have decided to accelerate.
The feedback we have received from the community has been instrumental in our decision to hold off on Full Launch to ensure we have more pieces of the puzzle ready and we can be proud of the product we are releasing. We would rather delay the Full Launch than rush and deliver a sub-standard or incomplete product. We estimate Full Launch will be in February.
For now, the game will still be playable and we will ensure that the Beta version of the game continues to receive bug fixes and improvements such that everyone can continue to play, hone their skills, develop new tactics and provide much needed feedback.
We’ve made significant inroads in to the Web2 version of the game — in fact, it’s practically done from a back-end point of view and only now needs integration with front end and lobby system. We are aiming for this game mode to be available in time for the Beta Tournament, however the tournament will stay entirely on chain.
The new UI/UX design is rapidly approaching completion. Once complete it will pass to our Game Developers who will make it real. The UI/UX refresh will be integrated by the Full Release and we’ll provide some early sneak peeks at progress as it happens.
New marketing personnel
We’ve interviewed almost a dozen people over the last few weeks to fill two positions in the marketing space. One role, a senior marketer will be tasked with coordinating our marketing efforts and getting us ready for Full Release and our first Major Tournament. The second role is focused on content creation. These roles have now been filled and we hope to have them start early in the new year.
Lining up new years activities
As the new year heats up we are looking at filling our calendar with activities to get us back on the map, these include podcasts, influencer reviews (YouTube and TikTok) and finding investment opportunities to take us to the next level.
We have many more MAJOR activities planned next year — including but not limited to:
- Starting the foundation to our Play-to-earn game mode
- Genesis tank mint
- Tile/land sales
- Tank commander avatar mint
A huge TANKS to all of our supporters. We’re excited to see what 2022 will bring as we move in to the next phase of our development.
